CAREGIVER FOR YOUR BABY: LOCATING A CAREGIVER

You can find a caregiver using the following resources:

•     Your own primary caregiver, if you intend to choose a pediatrician

•     Birth center of a hospital or clinic, especially postpartum and nursery nursing staff: Nurses see the caregivers at work with both mothers and babies and can therefore give you excellent advice and information.

•     Health insurance provider directory: Your selection might be confined to a specific group of healthcare providers.

•     Friends with children: Parents usually have strong feelings about their pediatric caregivers. Consider both positive and negative comments.

•     County health association or board of health

•     The Official ABMS Directory of Board Certified Medical Specialists (available at your local library)

•     Local chapters of caregiver associations, such as the AAP, AAFP, or the American Medical Association (AMA).

•     Teaching hospitals

•     Telephone directory yellow pages, under Physicians, Family Practice, or Pediatrics.
